Swimming for Gold

Jared started another year of swimming with Spencer and Mikayla at Chattahoochee Gold today. It is an excellent program and the kids really love it. In fact Ryan and Kiersten are starting tomorrow as well. So of the 6 Homer-Harvey kids, Kevin will be the only one not swimming. He says that he's sticking with gymnastics...good choice Kev! Jared got new goggles over the summer so he thought his nickname would change to "Jared Gold" (the color of his goggles since there are 2 Jared's in the class) but his coach said that he will always be "Jared Green" to her! They did well today and I know that I couldn't keep up with any of them during one of their practices...

Swordsman's Ball

Rob and I we lucky enough to be invited to the annual ball to support the American Cancer Society. We had a silent auction, food and a live performance from Pebblebrook's preforming arts school. We also received the news that Cobb County reached it's goal of 1 million dollars for the 2007 Relay season, the closing date is August 31st so we made it just in time!

Super Star

So Kevin had an awesome first week of school. He got a Super Star notice home last Friday and was really excited about it. Then he had a couple of days where his "ears were turned off" but he got himself back on track and came home this Friday with another Super Star note, this time from his music class. Big surprise, the boy is always humming, singing or making up words to a song. We're just happy that he loves first grade so much. He is counting down the days until the AR wall is up and running. He wants to be the first kid in his class to make the Accelerated Reader wall...stay tuned for updates!

Gymnastics Class

So our little Spiderman needs an outlet for his energy. He took gymnastics at one point and loved it so we decided to give it a try again. Jennie wants credit when he's in the Olympics...he's actually really good if he listens to the coach. Kevin is one of the older ones in the class so he gets to be the leader (he loves that!) He is also pretty strong from swimming which helps him do alot of the moves. It doesn't hurt that he has been doing "donkey kicks" since birth! I guess by taking the class he will learn to do "tricks" the right way and hopefully he won't break and arm like mommy or Ryan!

Ryan's Back to School

So this morning was my last "First Day of Preschool" drop off. It seems like yesterday I was sitting in the car with Jared for his first day of 3 year old preschool and he had to go to the bathroom---"NOW!". He kind of blew the moment but I remember thinking as I drove off that I had 6 more years of preschool. Can it be my last year already? I am sure with me teaching at the school that the year will fly by even faster. Ryan had a great day and she made some new friends. She's not sure what their names were but I guess she'll get better with that as the week goes on. They read Curious George Goes to School and they used paints...she had a blast and can't wait for tomorrow! I'll get to peek inside her room tomorrow since I work T/Th/F ....maybe I can make notes on the new friends names.

Homer-Harvey Lake Weekend '07

Summer is almost over so we squeezed in a trip to the lake before the little ones started preschool. A full car with Jennie, Tracey and the 6 kids (plus the dog) arrived on Friday evening. Rob beat us up there so he was on food duty. We had a blast on Saturday with the paddle boat, seadoo, swimming, water guns, blongo ball and s'mores after dinner. Sunday was more of the same--playing around on the lake...the kids had fun too. Summer went way to fast but the 100 degree heat can leave any day. Good thing we were able to keep cool at Harwell! Thanks Gran and Grandfather for a great weekend!
