St. Andrews field trip

Ryan and I got to go back to the fairgrounds today to see the animals. We started out with a hay ride to the petting zoo and a tour of the exotic animals (snakes, camels, kangaroos, zebra, llamas). Then we got to talk to clowns and see some of the prize winners from the fair that were on exhibit. Next stop was a trip through a barn to see cows, horses (Ryan's favorites!), chicks, bunnies, sheep and goats. At the end of the tour we all sat in the grass and had ice cream and juice...what a great day! It was fun to spend some time with RyRy. We used to do trips and tours all the time with our MOMS club, but we haven't done much of that in the past few years. She really enjoyed the time out together...me too!

Happy Birthday Grammy!

We took Barb to the State Fair at the Jim Miller Park to celebrate her birthday. The kids all had a blast and Grammy did too until her tummy told her to stop riding all the crazy rides. Ryan and Kiersten loved the Ferris wheel, Jared loved the really wild rides, Mikayla loved the fun house and Kevin and Spencer tried their hardest to keep up with Jared. We finally decided it was time to eat and maybe that would help Barb's stomach. After a bite we watched some cloggers, went to the petting zoo and then one final ride on the Ferris wheel with all the lights on the midway. Before we knew it, it was time to go. A late night for the kids but they look forward to this every year.

Friends for LIFE

Well we have officially started our 2008 fund raising. We had a garage sale at the Homer house to benefit the ACS. We raised $1,300.00 and the kids bake sale brought in $25.50! We are so happy that it did so well. We are planning another fund raiser in November for folks to do some holiday shopping. We'll be hosting a Home Show Open House at the clubhouse in Chestnut Hill. Along with another garage sale and a car wash we hope to raise more money then last year. If you'd like more information on my team, or how to donate to the American Cancer Society, please click on the links on the right hand side of the blog. As for a description on the pictures...the fur coat was in the sale and was the envy of all who tried it on. Then there was the dining room set that didn't quite make the final sale and we HAD to find a creative way to dipose of it...and let out some pent up energy...

"All right Kevybu!"

YAY!! I finally figured out how to do the video! I hope you enjoy it as much as we did. He worked so hard and it was so nice to see him make it up...and STAY up. Turn up the volume...it's a hoot!

Robotica

Jared brought home a project last week to be completed by the 13th. He was to create a continent complete with lakes, rivers, mountains-- yadda yadda yadda. We thought this would be a perfect opportunity for him to spend some time with Pop Pop and they had a blast creating "Robotica". Mom and Dad appreciated the fact that Jared was able to spend some time away and we were able to have special time with the other kids. I took Kevin with me to the park and Ryan had some time alone with Daddy.

Cheeleader

Hi all! Caught these shots of Ryan this afternoon. She got a Bella Dancerella cheerleader DVD at the consignment sale at her school today and she couldn't get home fast enough! While the DVD was getting set up she ran to her room and changed into her "Cheeleader" outfit. Since that's what she wants to be when she grows up...we heard the music over and over and over. The boys were covering their ears and came up to help me with laundry rather then have to listen to her go through it again. Oh boy, here we go! Maybe she'll be all practiced up for the Auburn games this season...

DOH!

We decided to play around on the computer with the kids one night after dinner. Rob found a website called "Simpsonize me" where you upload pictures of yourself and it morphs you into a look-a-like from Springfield. So we turned our family into a cartoon....how could we resist?? Doh! **Stay tuned for video of Kevin getting up on skis. I am having a hard time getting it uploaded to the blog site. It is really cool to watch him go!

Kevman on skis

Kevin decided this weekend that he was going to use the last few days of summer to learn how to water ski. Actually Jared went first and decided rather quickly that the sport was NOT for him. Kevin gave it a valiant effort over and over again on Sunday. Just as he was starting to get it he said he'd had enough. Monday he got up early and went down while the water was still really calm before the holiday traffic hit. Just Mom, Dad and Jared to spot. He really started to get the hang of it and by the time he did it again after lunch he had mastered it. OK, so not really that good, but he came a long way in two days. He's a tough little guy and he kept on going until he got it. We were all so happy for him and so proud. Ryan decided to give it a try but just didn't really get it--and the water up the nose scared her a little--maybe next summer. Not to be out done, Rob and Grandfather Lars had to give it a go too...to protect the aging, their pictures will not be included in the montage...

**(This is from Rob... We did just fine, Tracey just didn't have the camera. After a few tries I was back up on one ski just like when I was 16. Lars pulled a muscle, but stuck it through for one slalom lap.)
